The Sentinel

Summary

With Reacher's brawn and the nerd's brain they team up in a techno thriller till the end. Really a nice weird read especially once the bad guy starts crawling around. Believable and comically decrepit of course, in a darkened way.

Review

Reacher, being Reacher, bums a ride to a small town for no better reason than the guy driving was going there and he said there was a coffee shop. Of course if you know Reacher’s proclivities wherever he goes, trouble always seemed to follow in a big way. This time, he tries saving himself and the genius computer nerd from thuggery and death for a crime he didn’t commit then uses his server skills to feed Reacher to connect the dots to save their collective hides.

The only thing Reacher knows about computers is to stay away from them, he doesn’t like devices that are more complicated than switching on and off a lamp. He has no working knowledge about apps and zero interest in anything with a screen, including mobiles. He knows even less about servers being hacked and locked-up with something called ransomware. He learned quickly to put in his bulldozer action plan before the dark forces caught up with him. If he wanted to stay alive and beat the darkness with their twisted agenda, he had to outwit the nitwits of negativity. Aren’t they always? Sheesh!

Trying to save the town and the IT nerd from a painful death, Reacher needed to know who was pulling the strings and why. And then pull the evil ones out by the roots.  Why and who is intent on vanishing the IT guy at city hall is his first order of business. His next order of business, as always is to make all the unpleasantness all go away by any means necessary. Super unsavory sinistery is at play concealing their loathsome past and liquidating all that stands in their path.

Reacher reaches his last nerve and shoved into an ultra-jam playing both sides.  As the dark secrets start to erupt he finds himself in a inescapable corner after uncovering the inconvenient truth buried in an unforgettable ending.
